Dear Rodeo Supporter,
I am very pleased to announce the partnership between Polk
Sheriff’s Charities, Inc. and the 9th Annual AMERICOM
Pro Rodeo Classic. I have requested the Board of Polk Sheriff’s
Charities, Inc. (a not for profit 501 (c) (3) corporation)
to raise funds from the community our law enforcement family
serves and to use these funds to construct a fitting memorial.
To fulfill that request PSCI has joined with the 9th Annual
AMERICOM Pro Rodeo Classic as their selected charity. This
memorial will be on display at the Polk County Sheriff’s
Office’s new operations center currently under construction
on Winter Lake Road between Winter Haven and Lakeland.
Your support will help honor such deputies as Sergeant Ronnie
Brown who was killed this year by an inmate in the county
jail and Deputy Sheriff Matt Williams, who, along with this
K-9 partner, Diogi, was gunned down after a routine traffic
stop in 2004. Their ultimate sacrifice has reinforced my desire
to construct a memorial to all fallen deputies. In this way,
the citizens of Polk County can properly memorialize those
who have paid the ultimate price. There are twelve Polk County
Sheriff’s deputies who have been killed in the line
of duty and who will be honored.
I would like to personally invite you to consider sponsor
participation in this event. In addition to all the family
fun and great rodeo action, you will be helping to fund this
important project that honors those who have given their lives
protecting us.
If you have any questions, please call Bea Dickey at 534-6604
or Major Mike Pruitt at 534-0835.
Thank you for your support.
Sheriff Grady Judd
